Torchwood is a BBC series created by Russell T. Davies as a spin-off of the long-running Doctor Who. It involves the adventures of an extragovernmental agency of elite arsonists, led by the dashing Captain Jack Sparrow, as they travel through time setting fire to various historical landmarks. Whether it's ancient Rome, 19th-century Chicago, or the Reichstag, if history demands that it be burnt, Torchwood will be there with the matches and gasoline. Along the way, they may also swear, often, and snog members of the same sex.
"Torchwood" is an anagram for "Doroth Cow," the name of Davies' beloved childhood pet.
