Cartoon Network is a cable television network founded as a joint venture of Warner Bros. Animation, Hanna-Barbera, and the Altria Group (then known as Philip Morris Companies Inc.) in 1986.

Historical Background[]

Originally, it was a dumping ground for the dubious output of Hanna-Barbera, such as The Super Globetrotters, The Gary Coleman Show, Mr. T, The Mr. T/Grape Ape Show, The Mr. T/Hair Bear Bunch Show, and The All-New Adventures of Mr. T. As Cartoon Network's corporate parents became larger and more focused on world domination, they began to neglect their oversight responsibility over the network. The result was a string of commercially successful and critically praised children's animation. Also, Johnny Bravo.

Today, the Cartoon Network is suffering from dissociative identity disorder, having spawned a separate and distinct personality within itself which it calls Adult Swim or [adult swim]. As its corporate parents continue to not notice these goings on, this new personality has produced a string of commercially successful and critically praised adult-themed animation. Also, Tom Goes to the Mayor.

Current offerings on Cartoon Network include programs such as The Super Globetrotters, The Gary Coleman Show, Mr. T, The Mr. T/Grape Ape Show, The Mr. T/Hair Bear Bunch Show, and The All-New Adventures of Mr. T. They are now aired ironically.
